Welcome to the Onslow Belmont Fire Department Homepage

The Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade is an organization dedicated to saving lives and protecting property through fire prevention, suppression and public education.
2011 was a milestone year for the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade. Several events were held and well attended in celebration of the 50th Anniversary.
The total number of calls answered by the brigade for the year was 144. Of those 2 were structure fires and 6 were vehicle fires. The estimated loss due to fires including structures and vehicles for the year 2011 was one of the lowest in recent years at $76,000. Our highest number of calls was medical at 62. Next are motor vehicle collisions at 27, which have increased steadily over the past few years. Calls from neighboring fire brigades for mutual aid totaled 15. Brush and grass fires were low at 7 calls responded to. Flue fires totaled 8 calls. There were 17 other miscellaneous calls ranging from false calls to poles on fire etc.
Lantz Truck delivered a new replacement truck for the #9 pumper and the keys were officially handed over during our Fire Prevention open house in October.
Our annual fundraisers including the Harvest Sale & Auction, & Dances continue to be a success. The support from the community and local businesses for these is tremendous. Money raised helps to offset rising costs and keeps the tax rate stable.
Again, we appreciate your support!!
The Brigade currently has 56 active firefighters, 1 junior member, 2 support members, 34 honorary members, 7 retired members and 2 new members to be brought in as regular members in 2012. We are always looking for new members. Contact any firefighter for an application or just send an email at obfb@tru.eastlink.ca
